Hot Water Extraction Is The Best Way To Clean Your Carpets

Is this your first time hearing or reading about the hot water extraction method? Well, that’s not surprising since not a lot of people go for this method to clean their carpets. But, then again, you may have heard of it already, though only in another name, namely, “steam cleaning”.

Many companies use the term “steam cleaning” to describe this particular method of cleaning carpets. It’s not entirely accurate, however, as steam cleaning is fundamentally different to using the hot water extraction method.

A quick look at the carpet industry

While it’s easy to dismiss what we just said about hot water extraction and carpet cleaning, the same can’t be said for what’s happening to the carpet industry today.

If you take a look at some of the leading carpet manufacturers today, they usually recommend hot water extraction to help maintain the brand new look and more importantly, the cleanliness of home carpeting.

Even major players in the carpet cleaning industry firmly believe that hot water extraction is the go-to method for the most beautiful-looking, clean carpets.

How the hot water extraction method works

Hot water extraction doesn’t actually involve any steam at all, unlike steam cleaning. Steam has little involvement when it comes to being a primary cleaning material. Instead, what happens is that hot water along with cleaning agents is shot straight into your carpet pile at high pressure. The pressure, combined with the hot water and cleaning agents help loosen up all the dirt, soil and grime that’s built up in your carpet over the years.

After this, a high-powered vacuum is used to remove all the hot water, along with all the dirt, dust, stains and other whatnots.

Buying your own steam cleaner

You may be tempted to buy or rent your own steam cleaner. If you ever find it hard to make it a choice, don’t force yourself to buy one. Rather, go for a portable household unit that you can rent at your local store.

Bear in mind, however, that steam cleaning and hot water extraction are two different methods of cleaning carpets. With a steam cleaner, there is a chance that you could soak the carpet and leave too much detergent in it. You will end up having to clean the carpet with a lot more frequency and there’s a good chance that you won’t remove many stubborn stains. Using the hot water extraction method, the detergent and excess water are removed and the carpet dries in a quicker amount of time.

Calling in the carpet cleaners

Many make the mistake of calling a local professional to clean their carpets only years later down the line, when it’s nearly impossible to restore their carpet’s looks.

If you want to keep your carpets fresh and clean for years to come, always call on the professionals on a regular basis. Carpets should be cleaned at least once per year depending on how dirty they get.

Make your carpets last longer

Your carpet takes a whole lot of beating every day, which is why it tends to accumulate dirt, spills, stains, pet dander, and even pests over time. However, hot water extraction helps solve that problem so that your carpet looks beautiful and clean for many more years to come.
